How Putin reacts to flexibility

Sunday, July 8th, 2012

We all remember President Obama’s monumental open mic gaffe, where he pleaded with DiMitri Medvedev to pass a message to Vladimir Putin. The servile way in which our Commander in Chief tried to procure favor with the Russian leadership has been a low point in international relation for the United States. Maybe that is how a community organizer behaves, but certainly not what you would expect from the leader of the free world. So, with this in mind, how do you think a retired KGB trained Lieutenant Colonel reacts to someone who is out of his depth and has come to him with his hat in his hand? Well he exploits the situation, he browbeats the man and sends him a message, in the form a probing flight of Tu-95 H Bear Nuclear Capable Strategic Bombers on the Fourth of July. While this sort of exercise is nothing new, it is curios that it happened on Independence Day. Read more here

Hello all you liberty loving domestic terrorists!

Wednesday, July 4th, 2012

Happy Independnce day!

DHS is at it again. Apparently, if you’re a freedom loving American who opposes what the government is doing, you’re a danger and a potential terrorist. Janet Napolitano and the rest of the Obama regime are afraid of the tea party, Gadsden flags and even displays of the American flag. Funny, in the report, there is no mention of islamic terrorism nor of the 9/11 attacks. Read here

SCOTUS Aids and abets a fraud?

Thursday, June 28th, 2012

Today, The Supreme Court of The United States upheld the Obamacare law, the ACA as constitutional. Not as an protected under the commerce clause but under the power of congress to levy taxes. Welcome to the LARGEST TAX INCREASE in the history of the United States. $500 billion Mandate and the hidden taxes in medicare to the states, and that’s just off the top of my head. I see that, as of this writing, the stock market is down 134 points. We will have to wait a bit more to see the impact that this decision will have on the unemployment numbers. All politicians lie but Obama takes the cake, to the point that even George Stephanopoulos called him on it:

So was this a win for Obama and big government? The fact that ACA was upheld as what it has always been, a tax, may be one of the greatest gift horses. Taxes can be rescinded and reduced, it is a whole lot easier to demonstrate how taxes affect the economy than it is to reverse a law protected under the Interstate Commerce clause.

Prohibition was constitutional, it didn’t make it right but it was constitutional. Prohibition was over turned and it was an amendment to the US constitution. The ACA didn’t even make it that far.

Godfather politics has a great piece on the unconstitutional Affordable Healthcare Act by Michael Connelly, someone who has actually read the whole thing (I will admit, I haven’t read the whole thing but I did manage to get to page 127 of it before I passed out). What he has found has deeper implications than grandma’s healthcare or death panels. The ACA is a veiled attemp by the left to do away with several pesky constitutional amendments that are in the way of their progressive utopia. I would not be surprised at if this “law” we’re to be left unchecked, neither this humble blog nor the one that I am linking to would be allowed to exist. Read more here

Do you remember?

Friday, June 1st, 2012

So I was at the gym today and the movie playing in the theatre room was “The Transporter 2″, starring Jason Statham.  I decided to go in and run while the movie played.

I had forgotten that Matthew Modine played a supporting role in this film.  However, what I had totally forgotten about was that Mr. Modine gave an interview to CNN in 2010 where he said, “Imagine if somebody were to really sit down with Osama bin Laden and say, ‘Listen man, what is it that you’re so angry at me about that you’re willing to have people strap bombs to themselves, or get inside of airplanes and fly them into buildings?

So what?  Old news, plus it is just another millionaire guilt laden liberal talking out of his ass.  Right?

Well, for one, there is more than a modest case of schadenfreude on my part.  I find a great deal of humor when some liberal takes the high moral road and ends up with egg all over his face.  Mr. Bicycle for A Day got a free pass when he opened his mouth in 2010 and inserted his sensitive foot.   Not surprising, considering that the mainstream news outlets who didn’t even investigate the president of the United States when he was a candidate would let Modine get away.

A more important question is why did we let him get away with it?  Well, the answer to that is succinct.  As value producers and value creators, we lead busy lives.  We have careers and jobs and families to provide for.  We have more on our plate to keep us busy than the stark ravings of a millionaire.

Now, having revisited the issue some 26 months after the fact and having the benefit of hindsight and, most importantly, having had president Obama take a great deal of credit for killing bin Laden, I have to know, how does the hugging strategy mesh with this fact?

Surprising as it may be, I agree with some of Modine’s points.  He correctly stated, “that we can’t wait for the government to solve our problems or our religious leaders or our news media. That it’s up to each of us as individuals to think and be responsible.”  He has also played Thomas Jefferson in “More Between Heaven and Earth a play with music,” based upon letters between Thomas Jefferson and Maria Cosway, wherein the Wall of Separation between church and state is stressed.  I fancy myself a Jefferson admirer, because of his dislike of central banking and The Wall of separation.  Like Jefferson, I think that religion is a deeply personal business and the government has no place in religion nor does religion have a place in government.

Modine’s politics leave a lot to be desired, he claims not to be a democrat yet he said when asked about Washington in the Obama era, as compared with George W. Bush’s era: “It’s a very different city now than it was during that time.  Maybe it’s my own perception, but it feels as though a veil of secrecy has lifted.  It feels like a much more open city, and it’s more colorful, and the flowers seem to bloom more beautifully.“

It’s really hard to change unicorns mid choom.

I guess Operation Fast and Furious doesn’t rank in secrecy or cover up in his eyes.  Nor does the fact that John Corzine hasn’t been investigated, indicted, tried and convicted.  Nor do classified school records of a sitting president sound like secrecy.

I am picking on Mr. Modine, not because of him personally, I like his films, for the most part, and I agree with his views of separation of church and state.  He is, emblematic of the left, dewy eyed idealistic naïveté that is so easily manipulated by the cult of personality.  He rebels against organized religion without realizing that he has replaced it with the gospel of envy at the expense of individuality.

“You don’t get something for nothing,
You can’t have freedom for free,
You won’t get wise,
With the sleep still in your eyes,
No matter what your dreams may be”
                                                              RUSH, “Something for Nothing”

Does any one know?

Wednesday, May 30th, 2012

I have a question, it has not been answered. For all intents and purposes it a simple question, maybe even a bit naive, nonetheless, it is not a stupid question. Nor is it one of those questions that would make some blush or a question that I shouldn’t ask because, it might “offend”. Here it goes… Why hasn’t John Corzine been indicted, investigated, convicted and sent off to prison to hang out with Bernie Madoff? Is it because he is a former governor, senator for New Jersey and a democrat? Or could it be because he is a top bundler of big money for the campaign to re-elect Barack Hussein Obama?I am curious… And so should you.

The smartest man in the room?

Wednesday, May 30th, 2012

Remember when the media told us how smart Barack Obama was? Then, gaffe by gaffe he started deconstructing the myth single handedly. Clearly, we all make mistakes, however, Obama was lauded as the smartest guy in the room and many thought that he was the smartest man to ever occupy the the Oval Office. Whether it was when he found 7 new states or referred to the United States Marine Corps as Corpse, or when he discovered a new seismic fault running through Washington and named it Bush’s fault. Read the latest one here.
